Case Description

I am currently scheduled oral surgery to have the remaining teeth extracted all at one time. My dentist said something about "Immediate Dentures" but, since I am having the extractions completed at Parkland Hospital and thru Community Dental, it is my responsibility to have the dentures made so that I can take them with me into surgery. Parkland Hospital and Community Dental do not offer any type of denture services...I am on Social Security Disability and have Medicare -- so money is very limited....what are my options?

Are you willing to go through a period without any teeth? If so, you could get the teeth extracted and wait until you gums heal. Then after a couple of months you would go get fitted for dentures. If you prefer not to go without teeth, then you need to go ahead and get your dentures made with your dentist. Immediately after your teeth are extracted, this "immediate denture" is placed on top of you gums. An immediate denture will not be an exact fit, and the denture will loosen gradually as your gums heal from the swelling and inflammation associated with the extractions. When the immediate denture gets too loose, you will need it relined to fit. Hope this helps.

The least expensive treatment would to become a patient of Baylor Dental school. Have your teeth extracted and then after healing have dentures made by Baylor. Usually quality care and comfort correspond with higher fees as the dentist and staff are putting more time and materials into making your experience optimal. Hope that helps.
