Need help with root canal and cap

I have been in extreme pain since 1-4-08, I went to a dentist today who said I have a cavity and a abscess in my farthest back right molar. He quoted me $2,700 and said that my cap alone is $1,000 I'm not exactly sure what type of cap he quoted me for because I never specified what I wanted. I do not have dental insurance but I'm on a dental discount plan called aetna access and im having trouble finding a dentist who acepts this so im going to have to pay out of pocket for this procedure. I would like to get a few other estimated costs for this procedure but dont have the money to pay $80-90 each time I go to a different dentist. Is there anyone out there who accepts aetna access or even has a type of payment plan. The dentist I went to today was nice enough to perscribe me a pain killer but its only 3 days worth and I dont know what im going to do or how im going to afford this procedure. Any help is greatly appreciated! Also what are my advantages or disadvantages to just having the tooth pulled, or is there any other cheaper way that will be just as effective?
In reply**** Baylor clinic takes a long time to get into to. You first have to be approved then just basically have to wait till they call you. So that is definatly not a option for me, I cant wait 12+ weeks to have my root canal done.
